The King of Pop Michael Jackson is expected to announce the doubling of his residency at the O2 this summer. Last Friday Jackson appeared at the East London dome to launch his 'This Is It' tour - apparently his final ever performances. Rumour was he would perform from July 8 for as long as ticket sales demanded. If the tour is extended he could well make over £100million. Set to rival Prince's 21 nights
Jacko could do 22 shows to beat Prince's record 21 nights at the same arena. The Jacko/Prince rivalry was mainly manufactured by music magazines in the late 80s. Michael's show extension should be announced this week 30 shows?
The capital is now bracing itself for a recession busting 30 gigs by Jackson, in what will be surely be a windfall for London's hotels, transport and leisure industry. Tickets for the shows are priced at £75 / £65 / £50 + booking fees.
