The late Michael Jackson was "broke" before his death, according to remarks made by chief executive of AEG Live, the promoter behind the series of comeback concerts in London, reports The Times.  The King of Pop and his family were “living like vagabonds” according to Randy Phillips in comments made during a civil trial in Los Angeles.

The estate of Michael Jackson which earned an estimated $275 million in the year after his death, in contrast to reports that Michael Jackson was “desperately broke” when he died from a drug overdose in a rented mansion, a court in Los Angeles has heard.

A civil trial in Los Angeles has also heard how Mr Phillips described Jackson shortly before his death as “an emotionally paralysed mess riddled with self-loathing and doubt now that it is show time”.

The family of Michael Jackson have accused AEG Live of "prioritising profits over Jackson’s health and of hiring a financially desperate doctor” to do whatever it took to get the singer on stage for a series of 50 concerts in London."
