Barnet Council in May will have a new mayoral team with Councillor Lisa Rutter as mayor (Con) and Councillor Barry Evangeli as deputy-mayor (Con). Barnet along with other local authorities has a rotating mayoral system with a new mayor and deputy appointed each year. Barnet council is a Conservative stronghold with the largest Jewish community in the United Kingdom, and a growing Cypriot community. Barnet also claims to be one of the largest boroughs by geographical size in London, with Brent Cross redevelopment one of the most significant regeneration projects for the borough.
It is expected the mayor elect Cllr Lisa Rutter will announce her charities ahead of her formal inauguration in May.
We wish them both luck.
