Lord Mandelson the Governments Business Minister in a statement just made to journalists emphasised that the G20 reflected the reality of the global economy and the importance for the implementation of the G20's decisions.

Pressed on the issue of whether an agreement was likely today Mandelson said:

“It is extremely unlikely that such a gathering can be convened again, its not just about the final decisions but the implementation of this will of the G20 which matters”.

Mandelson looked as though he has been locked in fierce debates with other nations, moving from journalist to journalist emphasising that an agreement if not sealed today was not the objective for the British Government but the implementation of the “will of the G20”. The restoration of the banking system and confidence in the markets was the vital area that the G20 has to try and address.
