It is always a chore to find the right dress, whether it is for a night out or a special occasion pinning your eye on the right look is not hard work if you get inspiration from the stars that do it best. Natalie Portman stepped out in three different outfits in one week, with each producing a sharp contrast to the next; this may not be the situation for everyone but one outfit in particular outshone the others.

This book smart actress is comfortable  in casual wear opting for boyfriend jeans, cool sweaters and pretty smock dresses but when it comes to night events she always looks stunning on the red carpet. Her approach to style ‘less is more’ Natalie keeps in simple allowing the dress to be the main focus of her outfit, usually wearing unique pieces. Portman’s style is flirty and feminine and for this look she wore a purple Miu Miu bandeau cocktail dress, carrying a metallic Dior clutch and finished the look with Charles David heels. The event was the Style Lounge a part of the Venice Film Festival which took place in September; Portman was in attendance promoting Black Swan, a highly acclaimed psychological thriller where Portman plays a ballet dancer.

The film opened the 2010 Festival. To get Natalie’s minimalist chic, take a look at Lipsy’s glitter ruffle dress. It may not be the same shade as the 29-year-old beauty but the fit will create the same silhouette as Natalie’s and compliment anyone with a petite frame. Just like the Miu Miu dress this gathers in slightly the waist and flows over the hips with ruffles; this short Lipsy item is the ideal party dress if you like a bit of sparkle.  One advantage of wearing strapless dresses is the option to spice up the look with either a delicate necklace or a pair of show-stopping earrings, however in this case the actress chose neither and let her loose curls rest on her youthful shoulders.

On her feet Natalie wore a cute pair of satin heels in peach which was flattering on her tanned skin, but for this outfit these black satin shoes from Miss Selfridge will look equally as good. Pumps always work well with tiny dresses elongating the leg showing a perfect pair of pins in killer heels is a guaranteed confidence booster, other than this no party outfit is complete without a clutch.  One that is small enough to remain subtle yet big enough to hold all your night out essentials.

The silver metallic one featured here from Matalan is a nice contrast to the gold glitter; bags like this are a vital wardrobe piece because they go with virtually every outfit. The slouchy clutch has a fabulous snakeskin print fits in well with the animalistic trend and matches the glamour of the overall red carpet style.

Achieving Natalie flawless look is affordable and easy a simple outfit to put together and find with little stress and minimal effort.
