London's punk veterans, the Sex Pistols have been accused of hurling racist abuse at indie band Bloc Party's Kele Okereke after a fight backstage at a Spanish festival last weekend.
The Pistol's singer John Lydon has rubbished the claims and told Okereke to: "grow up and learn to be a true man.” Bloc Party's lead man also accused the Sex Pistols' entourage of a racist attack. Okereke 'tried to ask a question'
Both bands were playing at the Summercase Festival in Barcelona and, according to Okereke, the Pretty Vacant star kicked off after being asked if ever consider reforming Public Image Limited. Kele then says he got in a fight with the Pistol's associates, with one of the entourage saying, 'Your problem is your black attitude'. 'Feels sorry' for him
Lydon, AKA Johnny Rotten, said he felt sorry for Okereke and that: "The trouble was brought to us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security." Other indie band front men where also involved in breaking up the fight. Kaiser Chiefs front man Ricky Wilson, and Yannis from the Foals were allegedly ensnared in the melee. Photo: Flickr
