Editorial The aftermath of the violence that has engulfed London and other cities around the UK is the damage to the image to London that doing business here is possible because it is safe. With less than a year to the Olympics, the potential of major disruption to the Games if these incidents happen next year is real and present. LOCOG were very smug when the venues for the Olympics venues were delivered a year early and on budget, but something the highly paid individuals who work for the Olympics have forgotten is the anger and resentment that exists in London at the very idea of the Olympics. Who exactly are the Olympics for? I can tell you for nothing that the youths that rampaged across London don't give a hoot about the Olympics. London was the wrong city for Olympics from the start; the Olympics should have either gone to Scotland or another country, not here. How do we recover from this? The anger will continue, policing will be stepped up for now, but what happens next month? At the next flare up? The Met have a tough job ahead of them but, it’s the image of London that has been tarnished, and that’s what needs to be fixed. Is it safe to come to London? Hell no. Last night, and the last few days the majority of Londoners have been locked at home scared to move around the city. The looters may be on the hit list of the police, but we need to change our attitudes, we need to start confronting issues. Why is it ok for black boys in London to move around in gangs and cause havoc, without fear of the law? It is a racial problem, the black community themselves know it. Its time we stopped the failed policies of the liberal elite who believed that by being friendly is the way to appear when confronted by thuggish behaviour. Its time we punish properly the thugs black or white and the law must be enforced with the full force of support by all society. Image credit: via Facebook.
