London is bracing itself for the hottest day of the year with temperatures expected to exceed 26 degrees centigrade, heralding the start of "high summer".

Swimming pools in London are expected to be at their busiest today, with public parks and open spaces expected to see record numbers attending.

Londoners are being warned to use appropriate sun protection clothing, and to use creams to block out high UV's and protect against the rising trend of melanoma's.

With less than two weeks to go for the All England Wimbledon tennis tournament organisers are hoping that the good weather continues into the last weeks of June and early July.
