Arrests at London's football grounds have risen slightly Home Office figures show. Racist chanting has however fallen to the lowest recorded level. Out of 23 arrests for racism at games during all domestic and international matches in the 2007-08 season - only seven of these were at London clubs. Football related arrests in the city, excluding internationals, however jumped from 566 to 596 but the Home Office annual report attributes this to a "lower police tolerance threshold" at individual matches. Chelsea - highest arrest rate Chelsea had the most arrests in London with 106, Arsenal not far behind with 105 and West Ham Untied with 96.
Millwall had the highest amount of banning orders issued against its fans in the period, 38. Chelsea was behind them with 19. Most arrests were for drink-related offences, public disorder and ticket touting. Less than 10% of arrests were for violence. Those arrested was equal to 0.01% of all spectators.
