Chevrolet ‘Young!Creative,Chevrolet!’ - Whitechapel Gallery

Chevrolet, part of the General Motors motoring group has sponsored a cutting edge arts competition in London,  part of a campaign to make the new Spark, Chevrolet's "clever" and "perfect for socialising in the city" model, appeal to a younger more hip demographic.

Held at the uber trendy Whitechapel Gallery Chevrolet, announced the winners of their national prizes and found out who will continue on to the European finals. Charlotte Saunt, who 1st prize winner of visual arts was thrilled to take part in the competition: “I worked on the project on my own. I loved the brief and I really liked working on a car project. You would think guys only would love it but I really went for it. I’m really excited about getting through to the European final and would be so proud if I got through.”

33 applied art students in the UK sent a total of 15 projects in the categories: Video, Visual Arts & Photography, which were judged by a prominent jury on April 23rd. The jury comprised of experts such as the Director of digital strategy at VBS.tv and the popular art and fashion blogger Katie Chutzpah.

This is the first year the UK has taken part in Chevrolet’s successful Pan-European Arts competition open to all arts schools, colleges and universities.

Also at the Whitechapel Gallery was Ian Cook of Popbang Colour who has drawn Chevrolet cars using a remote controlled car and has worked with the car manufactuterer to make the brand "more trendy" and have more street credibilty.
