The capital is bracing itself for a recession busting 30 live performance show at the o2 by Michael Jackson, in what will be a windfall for London's hotels, transport and leisure industry.
Michael Jackson is believed to have agreed a £50 million deal with promoters to stage a "residency" at the world famous o2 Arena in Greenwich which has provoked the global media's attention.
The Times has reported that talks between the o2 venues owners AEG Live have also focused on the star being able to fulfill all the dates with speculation that Michael Jackson's health has been deteriorating.
One Michael Jackson fan Michael Antoniou speaking to the London Daily News outside the Langsborough Hotel yesterday said:
"This is great news for all Michael Jackson fans, this will be a global event and I expect each date to be sold out".
London has been faced with gloomy economic news but the onset of the 30 performances by Michael Jackson is estimated to be worth to London's economy in the region of £100 million, a welcome trend in an otherwise bleak period for London.
