Official figures have confirmed that the turnout in London for the European Parliamentary elections dropped on 2004 figures of 38.52 % with a turnout of
33.53 % in 2009.

There is concern tonight that the big winners in the European elections in the capital will be the extremist BNP who may win 1 or even 2 seats in Europe.

The big losers will be the Labour party who currently hold 3 three seats who are predicted to lose all seats.

It is still unclear if the Conservatives have made any significant inroads with early indications showing 3 or 4 seats going to the Tories.

London's total number of ballot papers, including postal votes, verified in the 32 local Counting areas was 1,763,025 with an eligible electorate 5,257,624 a turnout 33.53%.
