London is holding its breath today, and will unofficially "shut down" when the whistle blows at 3pm today to signal the start of the crucial World Cup tie against Slovenia in the World Cup.

Many businesses in the capital will try to operate a "normal service", but this will not be the case given the significance of the match against Slovenia, with business groups already estimated that workers watching the match will cost the London economy upto £100 million in lost working hours.

On the pitch the signs are not positive, with the clever money going against England, with a win for Slovenia.  Such scenarios are simply not being entertained by sports pundits; a defeat for the national team would be the worst performance of any England team in recent memory.  At Wimbledon the annual blame game as to who and why British tennis is not producing any champions has already started, with all but Andy Murray in the main draw, so no optimism there.

Londoners want a strong performance by "Fabio's 11" so that the World Cup "good feel" factor can help businesses and the London economy in a tough economic period for the capital.   Come on England lets do it!
