London given "severe weather warning" today

There is a severe weather warning from the Met Office today that London will be hit with "showers at first this morning will be locally heavy and thundery, giving falls of 15-20mm in a short space of time. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Commuters are asked to drive with caution.

Passenger saved in ferry sinking after 24 hours
A passenger on a ferry that capsized in the Philippines has been rescued after being in the water for more than 24 hours, officials said. Nine people were killed and 957 rescued after the SuperFerry 9 capsized in the Philippines, officials said.
