Several London festivals have won converted Green credentials as over a dozen UK events achieved the sustainable seal of approval. Hyde Park's three-day Wireless and the City Of London festival were among 14 UK parties awarded the 'A Greener Festival' seal of approval for their efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their events. A Greener Festival co-founder Ben Challis told our friends at CMU the results were surprising given the economic downturn but also because year on year "we have raised the bar and made our Awards scheme more and more focused on a meaningful and practical responses to climate change and pollution". In the meantime, confirmed eco-friendly fests include: Isle of Wight Festival The Big Session Festival The Wood Festival Lounge On The Farm Sonisphere The Glastonbury Festival Wireless Festival Splendour 2010 The Bristol Harbour Festival The Sunrise Celebration The City of London Festival Standon Calling The Summer Sundae Weekender Croissant Neuf Summer Party Challis continued:
"We are also delighted that we have had more European and Australian festivals entering, new entrants in the UK and growing interest in the USA, and also that a number of festivals are entering into other schemes such as the 10:10 campaign as well as using established and proven tools from [music business eco-group] Julie's Bicycle to measure and then reduce greenhouse gas emissions".
