LILLIE’S Bordello has longed protected its position as Ireland’s finest nightclub and last weekend cemented the rumour that it is still in a league of its own.
The infamous haunt of Ireland’s glitterati may be heavy on style and strictly selective, but this pursuit of elitism clearly pays off and has everyone from U2’s Bono to Van Morrison continually back for more.
The décor intentionally drips with overstated luxury, from paintings of nudes on blood-red walls to boudoir inspired chic, providing an indulgence for the senses that continues to gleam with class.
Pulsating club classics kept sophisticated shakers on the floor and The Library Bar’s magnificent bookcases ensured it very much earns the name, with classic Chesterfields adding comfort and glamour reminiscent of a Victorian Gentleman’s club, just without the cloud of cigar smoke which can be found outside instead.
An old fashioned approach to slick customer service and an exhaustive selection of smartly served drinks meant those expecting to be looked after were far from disillusioned, with champagne and vodka bottle service being offered at the private tables.
