Labour v Conservatives & Boris Johnson, by John the Cabby.

After the May Day drubbing of the Labour Party we have at last entered a period in politics where every vote counts.

We are back in control of our country and the people that you and I elect will all of a sudden want to listen. Moments like this are rare and we the voter must seize them and milk the politicians like cows on a diary farm.

The Labour Party want to hold on to power like a child with a comfort toy and the Conservatives smell victory but can't get a table just yet at Downing Street, fully booked until May 2010.

The win for Boris in London shows nobody can take anyone for granted, David Cameron does not have the keys to no.10, but he knows Londoners have had enough of Livingstone's brand of Labour politics.

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown will bounce back, he is a heavyweight politician, but like a boxer who has taken a couple of standing counts the bell can't come quick enough it's time to take stock & listen to your cornerman. Good sound advice will be given ( bring Charles Clarke back into the fold ), but always remember it only takes one shot to knock your  opponent out.

David Cameron however needs to ensure that a Conservative Mayor of London delivers on his promises & pledges. Boris, sorry the new Mayor of London is in a fantastic position, he will get all the support of the Conservative Party because he must succeed, failure is not a option. The Labour Party however need London to succeed because it's the engine room of the nations economy, if Boris Johnson just plays a straight bat and stays at the crease he can't lose.

On a slightly lighter note I just had a passenger ask me why I was so happy, I said I was looking forward to the big match ! He replied "I can't wait for a Chelsea victory in Moscow" I replied "I'm looking forward to 2010 when the Red's will be playing the Blue's" !
