A Tunisian man who was stabbed to death on the Old Kent Road last night was attacked by a customer in his own store.

The victim in his 30s was knifed in the upper body and died at the scene.

Argument

His attacker is believed to be a Somali man. The two apparently got into a argument inside the Addis internet cafe - The dead man ran a sport store inside the building.

Residents said the area, near Elephant and Castle, was notorious and fights were routine.

Dead in half an hour

He was supposedly stabbed inside his store, staggered outside and collapsed on the pavement near the Total petrol station by the junction of Old Kent Road and Penry Street around 22.30 and died 30 minutes later.

There was serious disruption to traffic this morning as the Old Kent Road remained sealed off between Dunton Road and East Street during rush hour.

Northbound buses were diverted via Grange Road and southbound buses via Mandela Way.
