Kelvin and Branson want piece of radio airwaves

Kelvin MacKenzie the former editor of The Sun and Chief Executive of the Wireless Group along with Sir Richard Branson are lobbying radio regulator Ofcom to sell radio frequencies to allow "other potential broadcasters".

The news of Sir Richard Branson and Kelvin MacKenzie approach to Ofcom comes at a time when commercial radio has been hit hard by the recession in the capital with consolidation and down-sizing the buzzwords.

The Times Media Editor Dan Sabbagh claims that Ofcom is being lobbied to offer three radio frequencies that of Classic FM, Absolute Radio and talkSport on in a auction to the highest bidder.
