Met keeps firm grip on protests

The Metropolitan Police in a joint effort with City and British Transport Police have controlled demonstrations in the City but several officers suffered head injuries

A mish mash of confused demonstrators have not caused the Met Police any serious problems, highlighting the diligent approach by the capitals police and firm method in controlling any potential outbursts of lawlessness.

On Threadneedle Street police clashed with various anarchists groups leading to several officers suffering head injuries.  One member of the Met's riot squad speaking to the London Daily News said:

"So far so good but its early still we expect pockets of trouble throughout the City".

The number of demonstrators is closer to 2000 than the inflated figure of 4000.  Many of the individuals demonstrating appeared to be students and under thirty of age.

Offices and shops in the Square Mile from Moorgate into Bank have been closed and roads around the Royal Exchange have been closed.
