The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the death of man hit by a train at Osterley tube station on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police officers had arrested Savraj Powar, 43, at his home in Isleworth. As officers carried out their enquiries, the man drove away from the address.

Found dead moments later

A short time later the man's body was discovered at Osterley Underground Station. He had been hit by a train and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem was conducted at Fulham Mortuary on Wednesday and the cause of death was given as multiple injuries.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Fulham Coroners' Court yesterday. The Met referred the death to the IPCC on Wednesday after conducting initial inquiries.

IPCC Commissioner for south west London Nicola Williams said:

"We will direct and control the Metropolitan Police Service's investigation. Copies of the investigation report will go to HM Coroner, the Metropolitan Police and the family."
