Its snowing London, and yes to those morons who have yet to learn the lessons from last winter on how to drive in the snow here is a recap. Rule number one, do not break heavily when you are driving on snow, use your gears to slow down and give way to drivers who are driving up a hill. So to that idiot in the tractor that is the Audi Q7 why were you braking heavily down North Hill in Highgate, and causing me and other people major safety problems?
On the A406 to that "clever guy" in the VW Golf who was on my bumper and then when he realised he had not space to brake slammed into the hard shoulder.
Oh and nearer to home anyone venturing up Cannon Hill in Southgate give way to drivers driving up, there is no grip on the roads and there will be the same stupid incidents of people not knowing how to judge the snow and causing major chaos.
The problem is this, TfL can grit as many roads as possible but we live in a city where morons prevail, where the safety of other road users is put as secondary. For those of us who know how to drive up mountains and off road, you learn how to DRIVE, meaning holding the steering wheel with two hands anticipating your ahead and rear visibility, and knowing how to slow the car down without breaks and using gears.
Let’s not start blaming our local councils or TfL for treacherous roads, we all need to drive with more attention, consideration for other drivers and if the roads are too hazardous we either walk or move the snow ourselves.
