Hunt for Valentines Day girl railway gang attacker
Article Video Photos

British Transport Police are looking for this girl gang who attacked and robbed a female commuter at Purley train station.

Their 31-year-old victim was dragged to the floor by her hair and punched in the face - she can be seen desperately stretching her arm out clutching her mobile phone.

DC Paula Eustace called it a "particularly nasty attack" that was only disrupted when a staff member heard the screaming.

The victim was waiting on the platform in the early hours of 15 February and was talking on her mobile phone when two girls in their early 20s entered the station.

One approached the victim and began to pull her hair and punch her in the head - while the second woman did not take part in the robbery, the CCTV shows she did nothing to stop the assault.

Descriptions

The main suspect is a white girl, aged between 20 and 25 years of age. She had black shoulder length hair, which appears to have been dyed. She’s about 5ft 6in tall, wearing jeans and ugg boots.

She was also wearing a distinctive cream coloured hooded cardigan, which was received from the scene.

The other woman was wearing a khaki coloured jacket, short skirt and black tights and boots. She is also believed to be a smoker.

Anyone who may know the women is asked to contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background log B3 of 05/05/2009.
