Cops are hunting a thug who split a pensioner’s head open on the Tube. The 70-year-old was knocked unconscious in the unprovoked attack at Piccadilly Circus station around 7.30pm on Tuesday 13 October. British Transport Police want to talk to the man on the right. DS Matthew Grist, the investigating officer, said the attack took place at about 7.30pm:
"The victim, an elderly man from Cleethorpes, was walking through Piccadilly Tube station when he was shoved violently into a wall by another passenger, knocking him unconscious. The victim’s head was cut open and he was taken to hospital for treatment. This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent and defenceless man who was visiting London and just happened to get in his attacker’s way. It is clear the offender is capable of completely disproportionate acts of violence and I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident or recognises the man in the picture to get in contact." Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images is asked to contact BTP free on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 502 of 13/10/09. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
