Under the weather singer Morrissey has been forced to scrap all of his London shows. The Ringleader of the Tormentors had been set to go ahead with two nights at London's Brixton Academy tonight and tomorrow. The entire residency in South London has been put on the backburner along with gigs in Mile End and the Royal Albert Hall to ensure the singer's "complete recuperation" from a throat problem - seven shows have so far been axed. However, a statement yesterday said the " two remaining gigs at the venue, on May 29 and May 30, are still scheduled to take place." Yet today a statement on Morrissey's website read: "Regrettably, the rest of Morrissey’s UK tour dates at the O2 Academy Brixton have been cancelled. Morrissey is on continued doctor’s orders not to sing. Ticket holders are advised to hang on to their tickets and await further information. Event Organizers would like to apologize to fans for the disappointment. Additional information will be issued as soon as possible." Mozzer 'went against' doctor's orders It has been reported the London cancellations are the result of Morrissey going against doctor’s advice and performing at a hometown show in Manchester- the night of his 50th birthday. Doctor’s orders have wreaked the 50-year-old's UK tour with cancelled and rescheduled dates littering music lover’s calendars - there are now serious doubts over a planned three night residency at Brixton Academy this weekend. The ex-Smiths frontman cancelled several shows in America at the beginning of his world tour earlier this year due to illness. Royal Albert show now set for October
The cancelled show at the Royal Albert has been put back to October 27. Original tickets for the previously-cancelled shows will remain valid, while returns will be resold. Photo - Wikipedia
