Heathrow splits emerge amongst Tories

The Conservative party was officially denying a split over the vexed issue of a third runway at Heathrow following press reports that Geoffrey Clifton-Brown expected the issue to be "revisited" after the general election.

This was immediately denied by the shadow transport secretary Theresa Villiers who said:

"Under a Conservative government there will be no third runway at Heathrow".

The government immediately seized upon the apparent split by with Lord Adonis the Transport minister:

"The Tories are keeping their true intentions on Heathrow secret until after the general elections".
