By News Editor Declan Wilkes Cops are on high alert after three more knife point robberies at the hands of a serial Haringey mugger. Plain clothes officers, helicopters and search dogs are now hunting the dangerous man who has held up nine women in three weeks. The black man in his 30s has been targeting lone women across the west of the borough since the beginning of the month - jumping out from behind bushes and trees then holding a knife to their throats in the terrifying attacks. Thursday, Friday, Saturday attacks
The latest attacks occurred at the weekend around 10pm. Thursday evening a woman in her 20s was on her phone in Granville Road, Stroud Green, when the man appeared from behind a tree with a knife, and robbed her. The next night a woman in her 30s was on Florence Road when a man jumped out from behind a bush and held a knife to her throat, stealing her bag and escaping down Parkland Walk. On Saturday a woman in her 20s, was followed along Connaught Gardens in Muswell Hill, scared he had a weapon, she handed over her bag and he fled towards Queens Wood. Women warned
Detective Sergeant Noel Stoddart of Haringey’s robbery squad told people to "remain vigilant" and said the suspect descriptions are very similar. He urged people: "...to be alert to their surroundings, travel with friends if possible and keep to well lit areas." Other attacks
The other attacks follow the same pattern. Last week, a woman in her 20s was set upon and threatened with a blade in Crescent Road, Crouch End, shortly after 8pm. Two muggings on September 13 were just a few hours apart in Upper Tollington Park, Stroud Green, and Crescent Road, Highgate. Both women in their 20s were threatened with a knife. First victim
The attacks started on September 2 when a woman in her 30s, was injured when the suspect held a knife to her throat in Onslow Gardens, Muswell Hill around 11pm. Just five days later a 50-year-old woman was mugged two roads away in Woodland Rise. On September 10 the suspect struck again in Muswell Hill, on Park Avenue North at 10pm, targeting a woman in her 40s before making off with her bag.
