News Desk Ioanna Protopapa a talented young Greek Londoner has managed to beat thousands of contestants in the Greek version of the X-Factor and reach the finals, to be broadcast live today in Greece.
The London Daily News first covered the story of Ioanna on 28 October 2024 before any other UK media outlets, when she qualified for the boot camp stage of X-Factor Greece, and our editor John Kaponi who is a family friend identified the talent here and said:
"Having watched her performances on Greek TV I knew straight away Ioanna would be a hit in Greece, they love this free no holds bar style she has and her renditions of the latest hits from the UK. Whether or not she will make it big in the UK is another issue, but in Greece she will be a hit and may even perform in the Eurovision in 2009 for Greece".
Another leading name in London's Greek community and an experienced music executive Barry Evangeli speaking to the London Daily News commented on Ioanna's achievements and making the finals in the Greek X-Factor:
"She is a wonderful girl, with a great voice and it seems the UK music industry have a missed something here with Ioanna who without doubt will be a massive hit in Greece and in Europe, and I hope Mr Cowell will snap her up for the British public".
The final of the Greek X-Factor will be broadcast on Antenna TV which can only be watched on the Nova satellite service. Ioanna is competing against six other acts and votes are cast using SMS for those who can vote.
Ioanna who attends the capitals leading state sector girls school Queen Elizabeth Girls School has taken a break from her A-levels until the conclusion of the X-Factor with the Head Teacher Kate Webster speaking to the London Daily News and said:
"We are very hopeful Ioanna will do very well, we have always known she is talented as a singer and has performed in the London Students Music Awards and came runner up, she is a girl with a talent. Its potentially a life time changing event and everyone in the school wishes her well."
