The Information Commissioner has demanded that the government stop stalling and reveal their secret plans for a second runway at Stansted airport.

A ruling published today by the privacy watchdog said the Department for Transport should publish their data in "the public interest" and it's record keeping and stalling were "clear failings."

Two year campaign

The IOC has been banging on the departments door for two years to no avail. A proposed extra runway is opposed by local councils, residents and environmental groups. Mr Thomas rounded on the departments "numerous difficulties in locating information" that was crucial in allowing "informed debate."

The government argues that disclosing the information prejudices policy making.

DNA tests will be needed to identify many of the 153 people killed in a Spanish plane crash, officials say. Authorities say many victims were so badly burned that fingerprint and other identification will be impossible. The crash of flight JK5022 at Madrid's Barajas Airport on Wednesday is Spain's worst air disaster in decades.
