Tension is rising in the Middle-East with the latest wave of attacks by Israeli troops in its Operation "Cast Lead" which singled out civilian targets in Gaza, including the Islamic University the largest academic institution in Palestine.
To date the death amongst Palestinians has surpassed 300 with angry demonstrations outside of the embassies of Israel and Egypt in the capital Sunday. The Metropolitan Police said three people had been arrested so far in connection with the protest Sunday near the Israeli embassy in Kensington.
Egypt has been targeted for its apparent complicity in the Israeli attacks in Gaza and its inaction to lift the blockade on routes to Rafa to Egypt.
Iran has called for a day of mourning on Monday and has called for a concerted response from Islamic nations against Israeli aggression.
Security chiefs in the capital have warned that Israeli offices and interests in the capital to step up security preparedness and be more vigilant given the tensions in the Middle East.
The Israeli News Agency has published the details of a Facebook page supporting the "men and women of the Israel Defense Forces in their fight to counter terrorism against innocent civilians in Israel from Gaza."
The Facebook site states: "Responding to unprovoked terror rocket attacks from Hamas terrorists in Gaza against Israeli civilian populations, the Israel Defense Forces has launched a massive counter attack. This Facebook forum supports the brave men and women in the Israel Defense Forces who by air, water and ground protect Israel's democracy and sovereign borders."
Press TV the Iranian backed satellite channel has broadcast continuous coverage of the Israeli attacks in Gaza providing the most comprehensive television output of all the international networks. The Islamic world is staging mass demonstrations with protests in London, Paris, Copenhagen, Nicosia, Amman and other cities in the world.
