Heavy smoke from an office block on fire in Aldwych has lead to major disruption in Holborn, The Strand, Aldwych, with nearby establishments evacuated.

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that six fire engines are attending a fire in a building under refurbishment on The Strand, WC2. Part of the building roof is alight.

More Fire engines and personnel are being despatched to combat the blaze inside the building next to India House the Indian High Commission.

The fire has caused some roads to be closed smoke from the fire has been seen across the London skyline.

The A4 in Aldwych was closed due to the fire, while southbound traffic on Kingsway from High Holborn was blocked.
