The Fire Brigade Union has voted for industrial following a strike ballot that took place this week. The results of the strike, announced Thursday will see the FBU close fire stations across the capital, with reports of closures already taking place across London. The union is believed to be ready to stage strikes as early as next Friday, 22 October.
London could grind to a halt with a co-ordination of strikes by London tube workers in the RMT and TSSA unions starting on 2 November.
The Fire Brigade Authority has already drafted in AssetCo to provide cover in the event of a strike.
