Men are putting themselves and their partners at risk of sexually transmitted diseases because of a dramatic rise in the number of "escorts" offering bareback or unprotected sex.  The term normally linked to gay sex, is now common practice amongst heterosexual activities, mostly with men visiting escorts or prostitutes.  Also linked to "bareback" is the GFE experience of the "girlfriend experience" which means escorts provide a much more intimate experience for their clients than "normal", with a longer time spent together and no rush to leave after climax.

In research of 100 working girls in London, conducted by The London Daily News, over 70% had "bareback" with "clients" with one girl saying:

"It is very competitive today, I have to support myself and my baby, my clients keep asking for bareback and I offer it for £30 extra, I make £150 in one hour".

One working girl, known as "Kim" who blogs on this issue and is strongly against "bareback" said:

"We live in such a dangerous age, where every day there is some new kind of virus or bacteria. The sex industry is one of the most dangerous work and still there are people who looking for/offering BB. Hmmmm don't you care about your own life? Well...if it's so at least do care about others' lives."

Leading health experts are predicting that if the trend of continues of unprotected sex with escorts, London may soon see a new rise in sexually transmitted diseases which could include gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis or HIV.

Another working girl known as Melinda, also against "bareback sex" said:

"According to the law it's not a crime to have some infection, but it's a crime to put others' life’s in danger. Ok, you are clean and sure in yourself...what about your parent, customer? The fact he/she took a shower before visiting you doesn't make him/her CLEAN!!!! How can you be sure that your customer/escort doesn't do that with others?? How that sounds then - guy gives his 6-month pregnant wife gonorrhoea, because he had BB with an escort girl, who normally provides it.. Oooppss sorry she looked clean. Just got out of the bathroom :D:D:D:D Yes, I know that there are hundreds of thousands escort girls, boys, couples, gays, lesbias.....fighting for customer's attention, but offering BB is not the way."
 
It has been estimated that London has at anyone time over 35,000 working girls, with many working alone or in massage parlours.
