Every day there seems to be another player being linked to Tottenham. Could the Spurs PR machine be in full swing, hyping up the club’s ambitions, or is there really substance to all the rumours?

Certainly on these very pages you will have read about Tottenham’s very determined attempts to prise Ronaldinho to White Hart Lane. The signing of Luka Modric took everyone by surprise but what is unambiguous is that Daniel Levy and Juande Ramos are approaching the summer transfer market with aggression as well as ambition.

This morning reports linking the club with Barcelona forward Samuel Eto’o have more than a mere hint of tabloid rumour about them. Spanish sports daily Marca claimed: "Tottenham's next target is clear, it is Samuel Eto'o."
The paper added that Spurs have already approached Barcelona "to sound out the possibility of carrying out this recruitment."

The noises coming out of the Catalan capital is that they are willing to let Eto’o go and that the player himself is very keen on such a move. In a season disrupted by injury and infighting, a move to London would suit the Cameroon international.

But would his arrival complement the current strike force of replace it? Is there enough room for both Berbatov and Eto’o?

Rumours persist of Berbatov’s departure, with his agent actively telling the press his clients’ wish to play Champions League football. Losing a talisman like Berbatov would be hard for the Spurs faithful to accept but if he were replaced by a player with the pedigree and calibre of Eto’o then Ramos and Levy would not only have appeased the fans but also started the Spanish manager’s Tottenham revolution.
