Essex University mourns the passing of BBC journalist Brian Hanrahan

The death of veteran BBC journalist Brian Hanrahan was received with great sadness at the University of Essex were Hanrahan studied in the seventies. 


The Vice Chancellor of the University of Essex Colin Riordan said:

"The news of Brian Hanrahan's untimely passing is extremely sad and our thoughts are very much with his family. Brian was a great friend of the University; he loved his student days here and gave unstintingly of his time and effort to help us. He was a delightful man as well as a very distinguished journalist and will be much missed".

John Kaponi a friend of Hanrahan and editor of The London Daily News said:

"Brian was a prolific journalist and a good man, who always had time to meet with fellow Alums from Essex University, he will be missed".

Plans are in place for Brian Hanrahan to be remembered by the Essex Government Graduates Association which Brian was a founding member of.
