Easter for all, sparks bumper sales for chocolate eggs

Easter egg sales are set to break any previous records with the Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox churches celebrating Easter at the same time, last year sales doubled on the previous two years, growing 96 per cent with sales of £300 million.  Analysts are predicting that sales could reach £400 million this year given the celebration of Easter by all the Christian denominations.

For those who want to buy top of the range Easter eggs, French La Maison du Chocolat in Piccadilly are selling hand made eggs from £11 for traditional eggs, and chocolate animals from £45 for 190gr of chocolate.  The "Easter Chocolate Safari" which includes a £580 "Giant model" is inspired by the "Jungle Book" and "Madagascar" films is a high end Easter egg for those who want to taste high quality chocolate designed by Giles Marchal.

Also for those connoisseurs of chocolate eggs Harrods provides the the traditional chocolate egg, which is made in store with an inscription, prices start from £19.95.

The main supermarket stores Tesco’s, Asda and Sainsburys are all selling eggs from £3-4 upto £10.
