Bus driver arrested after fatal crash

A bus driver has been arrested after a man was killed on Streatham High Road at the weekend.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was bailed while police continue their investigations.

The Polish man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene after he was hit by a southbound 250 bus on Saturday evening around 5.30.

The specialist Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident and bus company Arriva are studying CCTV footage.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out at Greenwich mortuary.

Police  think they know the man's identity but are trying to contact the next of kin.

Witnesses to the fatal collision are asked to call 020 8941 9011.
