Embattled Labour MP for Hendon Andrew Dismore claimed travel expenses equivalent to three journey's a day to his home for a year it was revealed today.

Pressure is now being exerted on Dismore following the news that he claimed £2,144 for mileage in 2007-08, equivalent to 5,360 miles or 487 journeys between Parliament and his home in Burnt Oak.

Dismore according to the Daily Telegraph has "consistently opposed" reforms to the MPs expenses system and claimed more than £30,000 in travel allowances, which dwarfs claims by neighbouring MPs.

Defending the level of his travel expenses Dismore said in the Telegraph:

"I have a very good reputation as a very active local MP; in any given day I will do up to half a dozen visits, from one end of the patch to the other".
