Death crash questions G-Wiz safety policy

New eco-friendly quadricycle G-Wiz that has excited celebrities such as Kristin Scott Thomas and Jonathan Ross the manufacturers are facing questions over  safety following the death of a woman in a fatal crash in Hendon in North West London.


The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the 46 year old women driving her electrical- powered quadricycle collided with another vehicle which was said to be a Skoda which the car as a result of this split in two and emergency services had to remove her from the vehicle. She was then taken to Royal London Hospital, where she was confirmed dead shortly after arrival.

According to The Independent in May 2007, safety tests organised by the BBC programme Top Gear showed that the G-Wiz drivers could potentially receive fatal injuries at speeds of 40mph. UK retailer of G-Wiz Rudi Schogger having been asked on the incident said: “I don’t have any details on the accident but note that it was the first of its kind involving a G-Wiz”. Furthermore according to EU safety rules the G-Wiz is not considered a normal car as many people might think but is considered to be a quadricycle.

The Reva G-Wiz has become extremely popular in the capital because it is exempt from the £8- per day congestion charge, and it can be charged through a normal socket. However their safety qualifications are clearly in question due to recent events the emergency bell of concern is ringing loud for the future of eco-friendly driving safety.
