Scotland Yard has confirmed that there has been a 17% increase in gun crimes representing a doubling of incidents involving guns with 236 incidents in the last six months, in comparison to 123 last year.
Serious fire arms offences have increased by 47% across the capital, which include the internecine gang warfare incidents across London involving Trident and special units focusing on Turkish gangs.
Guns are increasingly being used to punish "offenders" with gunshot wounds to legs and the shin area, which allows the perpetrator to escape a mandatory 30 year prison sentence.
London in comparison is top of the league for gun crimes with Merseyside recording a drop of 27% and nationally gun crimes are down by 5%.
Turkish gangs in London are rumoured to be preparing themselves for a renewed spate of attacks on rivals with sources in London’s Turkish community hinting that the Met Police have not been able to penetrate the criminal gangs in a decisive way.
