If like me you find Christmas an exhausting experience with shopping, lots of stress, then consider treating yourself to a weekend break with a round of golf at the Coulsdon Manor.
Originally built in 1850 for the Byron family, the Manor House was tastefully restored to its former glory. The country house, which retains many of its original features, with a modern glass atrium provides a light and airy feel to the hotel. All of the 36 rooms have are en-suite, with many with views over the impressive golf course.
I stayed in one of the suites which had ample room to work and relax in with decent views of the grounds of the hotel. The staff, despite the Christmas period being one of the busiest times were still helpful and attentive. It’s a tough time for hotel groups, but innovative companies like the Oxford Hotel Group will work well despite the tough economic environment.
Shops are nearby with the car, with Croydon within 10 minutes, and central within 20 minutes by car. A good location to take the family in the winter for a weekend break and relax, to enjoy a good English breakfast, roast for lunch, and drinks in the hotel bar.
