Crime Desk Police have released an artist impression of the man and an image of his T-Shirt in a bid to identify him.
Officers from Newham Missing Persons Unit have issued an artist's impression of a man whose body was found in the River Lea, Stratford on 12 December 2009, as enquiries continue to establish his identity.
Police were alerted after the body was discovered by a member of the public in the river, near the High Street, junction with Abbey Lane E15 at approx 13.24hrs.
So far, officers have been unable to identify the man as he was not carrying any identification and all missing person enquiries have been exhausted.
The man is described as white, aged between 40 and 50, around 5ft 9inches tall of medium build and weighing 15 stone, with blue eyes, collar length black/greying hair [bald on top] and unshaven.
There are no tattoos on his body, although the man does have two, one centimetre surgical scars on the front of the left knee and two piercings on the left ear.
He was dressed in a white 'Urban Spirit' t-shirt with the number '37' on the front; a blue 'Originals' jumper, black 'Urban Spirit' jeans in a size 30, white socks and a pair of size nine black 'Groundwork' safety boots.
DS Gerard Healy of Newham Missing Persons Unit said: "This man's family and friends probably do not know that he has passed away and could be wondering where he is. It is extremely important that we identify him. If you think you know who he is or if you know of someone who is missing who matches this description please call us straight away on 020 7275 5728."
