Surrey police may be accused of wishful thinking in asking the public help track down this man. This masked robber raided a Ladbrokes betting shop in Tadworth the night of February 20. There were no customers in the shop, just the two terrified employees who handed over the cash - one brave female member of staff did smack the thief over the head with a chair. He then made off on foot and disappeared down an ally. Description?
Police did issue a description, of sorts. He is described as a man, wearing a balaclava, gloves, dark jeans, dark coloured top and boots. Detective Constable Nicky Hunt said he wants to "bring this man to justice" and paid tribute to the bravery of staff at the bookies. Adding: "The police helicopter and a dog unit were used to search for the suspect on Friday evening but I urgently need to speak to anyone who was in the Tattenham Way area at around 9pm or 9.30pm to come forward. Did you see a man running away from Ladbrokes or perhaps you live in nearby Waterer Gardens and can tell me where he went from there? If so, please come forward..." Anyone with information should call Epsom CID on 0845 125 2222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
