Police are studying footage of a George Galloway video posted on YouTube. In the video which was filmed at last month's Unite Against Facism rally at Altab Ali Park in Whitechapel the former Bethnal Green and Bow Respect MP warned the English Defence League if they touch a hijab on a Muslim woman's head or a beard on a Muslim man's face in Tower Hamlets they would "have to fight your way through 10,000 dead bodies first." Police received two complaints a week after a rally against the far-right movement at Stepney Green and Altab Ali Park. Around 3,000 people attended the heavily policed march A Met Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm on Saturday 26 June officers from Tower Hamlets received two complaints about a video on the social networking site, YouTube. The complaints are being considered." Police have not yet spoken to Mr Galloway, who is currently overseas. His spokesman Rob Hoveman said: "The words speak for themselves. When people want to emphasise that they will do everything possible to stop something happening that they don't want to happen, the expression is often used that 'X will only happen over my dead body'’. Mr Galloway was therefore merely expressing on behalf of the Muslim community and all those who oppose the racism and physical violence of the EDL, that he and they would do everything possible to stop the EDL trying to inspire fear in and physical violence against the Muslim community." One of the people who have complained about the speech is believed to be West Wales British National Party deputy organiser Mike Green. In March UAF secretary general Weyman Bennett was arrested by police and charged with suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder. Click on 'Video' to see the controversial speech.
