Prime Minister David Cameron has ordered a rethink on school sports cuts after the government decided to cut funding which resulted in a controversial campaign by sports stars.

According to Whitehall sources, No.10 Downing Street will provide a revised plan that will be issued soon to provide extra funding, to recover the £162m cut from school sports partnerships across England a year decided by Education Minister Michael Gove.

The Prime Minister u-turn cam about when he told MP’s that the government had been negotiating with headteachers and he hoped that a decision will be made soon.

“We are talking with headteachers so we can make sure that what we come up withy actually works on the ground” said the Prime Minister.

Olympic athletes such as Denise Lewis and cyclist Jason Queally issued a written complaint to David Cameron to “rethink the decision” that could have damaged school in sport, with funding cuts  PE classes and reduce the number of staff, organising sports clubs and active sporting competitions.

Mr.Cameron added: “It does seem to me that we all have a shared interest here. We all want good sport in schools, we all want more competitive sport and we have all got to make sure that money is spent well. I think everyone accepts that not every penny was spent well in the past and there is quite a bureaucratic system”.
