With David Bowie playing "Lets dance" in the main conference following a “rousing” speech by Michael Gove, the Conservative party are confident of a win whenever Gordon Brown calls a general election, despite their "demons" simmering and set to appear when Whitehall looms.
The debate over Europe has been steered into a car park, with only one debate at conference the splits within the Conservative party have been ignored, until the Tories become a government.
What strikes the "virgins" of conference is the sheer scale of the event, with thousands of delegates, the worlds media and pretty much anyone who wants to be heard in attendance, I bumped into Fergal Shearkey at Starbucks this morning!
William Hague has been doing the rounds today visiting the various exhibitors who include none other that the "Conservative Friends of Turkey" in viewing distance of a delegation of Greek-Cypriot Conservatives.
Moreover the Conservatives have something of the sparkle of a bride waiting for her limo to take her to the church, but the question remains will the bride remain faithful to her new husband, or will she deviate to the extremes that have always been the downfall of the Conservatives?
Time will tell.
