Accessories play a huge part in making a winter wardrobe stand out. When the days become shorter and the temperatures drop a nice chunky scarf is the ideal item to beat the cold chill along with your coat this season. As trivial as it may seem a scarf can wrap up an outfit from cable knit to cashmere and from striped to check there is a scarf for every occasion. The one featured as the ‘Pick of the day’ is the affordable Fair Isle scarf from NEXT, in marl grey with hints of red and navy blue.

The rough and rugged workman style is a big favourite with the high street stores for menswear this season. This includes granddad knitwear prints, shawl collars, heavy duty boots, check shirts and straight-cut chinos all in subtle hues allowing the opportunity the build a versatile wardrobe. Why not accessorise the tough masculine edge with a nice chunky knit scarf?

Alternatively if you want to create your own individual look with this pick of the day piece there are other ways to wear this accessory. On the runway chunky knitted snoods and scarves were draped around neck, teamed with smart sportswear casuals at Y3.

As well as Yohji Yamamoto’s line somewhere in the arctic men are ogling at the D&G winter collection for its sartorial perfection at achieving the best way to dress for cold weather, really cold weather. They had scarves engulfing and pompoms swinging at the neck so do not be afraid to get creative.

Also take a look a Pringle of Scotland’s autumn winter collection because if there was any guide to layering a thick knit well this would be it; for this line outwear is knitwear so steal some tips straight from the runway to achieve perfect menswear winter chic.
