A city accounts manager caught with child sex images has been locked up six months. Jonathan Pegington, 32, had 10,000 child porn images on his computer - one showing the rape of an eight-year-old girl. He blamed depression after drifting from his wife but spent years building up a libary of illicit pictures. He told police he was "relieved" at being and "realised he had a problem". Plea for non-custodial sentence refused
Judge Stephen Robbins sitting at Southwark Crown Court rejected pleas from Pegington's lawyers’ plea for a non-custodial sentence - jailing him for four sample counts of making indecent images and one of possession he had admitted. His wife sat in the public gallery as the judge passed sentence: "You know the court must bear in mind the victims of this vile trade. "You express, I am sure, sincere regret, but the fact is children's lives have been blighted because they have been used and abused for the production of these images." Pegington, of Link Way, Bromley, Kent, was also issued a Sexual Offences Prevention Order that bans him from accessing the internet other than for his work and forbidding him from working with children.
