Met chief rejects claims of favouring whites

NEWS DESK  Scotland Yard chief Sir Ian Blair is accused of racial discrimination by Commander Shabir Hussain who claims the Metropolitan Police Commissioner tried to block the promotion of a senior ethnic minority officer. Sir Ian Blair yesterday denied choosing a “golden circle” of white officers and told an employment tribunal “It is inconceivable. I refute it totally” the Daily Express reports.The hearing continues.

DNA to identify Spain air tragedy victims
DNA tests will be needed to identify many of the 153 people killed in a Spanish plane crash, officials say. Authorities say many victims were so badly burned that fingerprint and other identification will be impossible.
