A BRAND new basement venue has opened up within Charlotte Street Blues club, hoping to attract the hottest bands and acts by cementing itself as London’s ultimate music venue.

Since opening in June last year in a beautiful converted Georgian house, Charlotte St Blues has only won over critics and fans alike by igniting a Blues revival in the capital by helping new bands make their mark and the launch of The Juke Joint looks set to expand this reputation of highlighting home-grown talent.

Sharing the same entrance as the main club and highlighted by a neon sign down a dark staircase, The Juke Joint boosts its own bar, reclaimed theatre seats, a 1930s jukebox and is focused on retaining a diverse musical outlook to defy any limitations, with live bands and DJs fusing alt-rock, low-fi indie, electro, hip-hop, jazz, blues and country, depending on the night.

Highlights are set to be Highway 74 on Mondays, new unsigned bands performing every Tuesday, Open Mic Sing-along nights with pianist Cliff Slapper where you can request your favourites, take to the mic or just stay seated and sing-along undiscovered.

Here’s what a full week at Juke Joint looks like:
Monday – ‘Highway 74’ A different live band every week, hosted by DJ Dirty Omar
Tuesday – Unsigned Band of the Week – A Juke Joint approved unsigned band, live
Wednesday – ‘Open Mic Sing-Along Night’ with resident pianist Cliff Slapper
Thursday – The Juke Joint Showcase – New bands, album launches and Juke Joint exclusives
Friday – You Need This! Brought to you by If Music All Stars & Friends – A night of the best in soul, boogie, Brazilian jazz, fusion & blues
